We are pleased to share the latest developments from the Kuska project. The new Dry Mill is set to significantly enhance our coffee processing capabilities. Here's a detailed look at our progress on the renovation of the COCLA processing plant.
About Kuska
The Kuska Project is a collaboration between Urapi and the Central of Cooperatives COCLA in Quillabamba Province, Cusco, Peru. COCLA, a renowned organization with over 1000 coffee, cocoa, and honey producers, holds immense potential for growth. The primary goal of the Kuska Project is to strengthen COCLA’s position as a leader in developing sustainable coffee, cocoa, and honey value chains. Read more about Kuska here.
The Kuska Dry Mill:
This green coffee dry mill is gearing up for impressive processing capacity:
Processing Speed: Capable of processing 1 container in 3.5 to 4.5 hours, depending on the quality and defect levels required.
Shift Capacity: We can process 2 containers per 8-hour shift.
Annual Projection: We aim to handle 315 to 350 containers per season.
Green Coffee Quantities: Projected to handle between 130,000 to 150,000 quintales of green coffee per season.
Ongoing Works:
Maintenance of metallic structures on warehouse roofs.
Replacement of warehouse coverings.
Painting and construction of baseboards, both interior and exterior.
Construction of modern offices and cupping laboratories.
Complete renovation of the electrical system for warehouses, offices, and production lines.
Purchase and installation of a modern Cimbria production line, with a capacity of 8 tons per hour of parchment coffee.
Construction and conditioning of protection systems: roof rainwater drainage, ACI (firewater system), and DACI (fire alarm detection system) for warehouses and offices.
Agroindustry Plant:
Our Agroindustry Plant is also undergoing significant upgrades:
Roasted and Ground Coffee: We aim to process at least 96,000 kg per season.
Cocoa Paste Production: We aim to process at least 24,000 kg per season.
Ongoing Works:
Workspace Repainting
Installation of sanitary partitions.
Maintenance of porcelain coatings on work tables.
Replacement of existing coverings and adjustment of roofs to protect the agroindustry plant environment.
Replacement of elevators and storage hopper.
Maintenance of sanitary baseboards.
Installation of a TOPPER roaster to boost existing capacity.
Complete renovation of the electrical system for all agroindustry environments.
Demolition and construction of new, modern warehouses to store raw materials and finished products.
